Anyone who does not understand or doubts what Peter Limberg outlines in his article, Unpsyopable, may want to watch The Century of the Self, A documentary about the rise of psychoanalysis as a powerful means of persuasion for both governments and corporations. This was a 2002 British television documentary and it needs an update that includes the past two decades. And we need to understand that these forces will soon be magnified by AI.
Peter explains that,
The core aim of every psyop is to manipulate an individual's psychology, aligning it with an agenda distinct from their own.
I view the paranoia that everything and everyone is a psyop … as a promising sign…“paranoid awareness” can serve as a psychological rite of passage, instilling distrust, not only in authorities but in everyone, including oneself.
Becoming unpsyopable is not merely an act of self-defense but an imperative for personal sovereignty. The conscious fortification of the bodymind transforms individuals from passive recipients of information to active participants in constructing reality. These are the kinds of individuals I wish to breathe with.
I want to give my own interpretation of psyops and why I think that understanding this is essential for personal sovereignty and a sense of freedom.
Everything and everyone is a story, a narrative. We are a Self that has built a Self, a construct of the stories we tell our selves about ourselves and the world we live in. The best we can do is to understand that we are a Story that has absorbed many Stories. We become free by undertanding that there is no escape. It is all just stories all the way down.
And this is promising because we can write new stories, new grand narratives, changing ourselves and changing the world. Differing only slightly with Peter, my goal is not becoming unpsyopable. My quest is to understand my own story and the stories I have internalized and manipulate them with the little bit of free will I have.
The people who understand what Peter Limberg and I are saying are the kinds of individuals I want to be with.
Let’s construct a new and better reality with our new stories.
